Yo, from "Hypebot":

A few weeks back, the social media blog Mashable announced that they are celebrating Social Media Day on June 30th. In accordance, we decided to do a little something special ourselves. Tomorrow, we will be featuring some guest commentary from a few of social media's finest -along with some other voices that you'll be familiar with - on how artists should use social media.

Also, from "Mashable":

Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia, has officially designated June 30 Social Media Day. Mayor Dean Fortin signed the proclamation after local Social Media Day meetup organizer Paul Holmes petitioned the Victoria City Council. As far as we know, this is the first city to officially proclaim June 30 Social Media Day.

... and there's actally a meetup in Minneapolis (: http://www.meetup.com/Mashable/7485/

Yep, even a logo!

What doesn't it have??  Me.  At least not yet, anyway.  So here, on "Social Media Day" eve, let's look at the specifics:

  1. So far my Twitter acct. is abyssmal, with membership actually declining as of this writing (down from 2 to 1). In my defense, I'm hardly doing it at all since I'm still getting "this whole twitter thing" worked out (haha).  But I'm sure when I get a Droid, that will change.  I think that tweeting from a cell phone is a pretty decent idea :)
  2. MySpace: I believe for a brief halycon period, I was actually being promoted by MySpace.  This was for a few months in 2006, during which time I had a lot of views and listens....  Still, since then I've mostly kept things how they are, and therefore also seems pretty slow at the moment.
  3. Facebook: Have some setup going with iLike, but iDon'tLike it.  So I'm trying to close that out, but it's taking a while....
  4. Last.fm: Just signed up for it this week.  Still getting everything uploaded and set up, so I'm not sure what to say yet.  Other than - so far so good.

And that's basically it...

Sometimes it seems like a lot to keep track of, but then again tweets are going into the LIbrary of Congress now.  Well now I'm going to go listen to the cat, drink a beer, and totally leave the computer on this Social Media Day eve.
